(Excel) Load JSON Object from HTTP Response BodyDemonstrates how to load the HTTP response body directly into a JSON object. Note: This example requires Chilkat v9.5.0.89 or greater because it uses the GetBodyJson method. Prior to v9.5.0.89, and application would need to first copy the HTTP response body to a Chilkat StringBuilder object by calling GetBodySb, and then load the JSON object by calling LoadSb.
Dim http As Chilkat.Http Set http = Chilkat.NewHttp Set resp = http.PText("GET","https://www.chilkatsoft.com/exampledata/sample.json","","","",False,False) If (http.LastMethodSuccess = False) Then Debug.Print http.LastErrorText Exit Sub End If ' A JSON object is JSON that begins with "{" and ends with "}" Dim json As Chilkat.JsonObject Set json = Chilkat.NewJsonObject ' If we wish to transfer (instead of copy) the JSON from the HttpResponse to the JsonObject, then add the keyword "TakeResponseBody" to UncommonOptions ' This could save memory for extremely large JSON responses. resp.UncommonOptions = "TakeResponseBody" Dim success As Boolean success = resp.GetBodyJson(json) json.EmitCompact = False Debug.Print json.Emit() ' Note: If UncommonOptions contained "TakeResponseBody", then the response BodyStr will now be empty: Debug.Print "----" Debug.Print resp.BodyStr |
